Impression causes an "Abort on Data Transfer" error when trying to save a
file by the F3 enter method |
|
This error is caused by the incorrect interaction
between Impression and the RISC OS Six ABIModule. A workaround is to either
use the F3 and click on OK, or F3 and drag file to directory to save
options. It is the handling of the F3 and enter method which causes the
error. This issue is open as
to whether it is a bug in ABIMod or whether a patch to Impression will be
required in a future release of RISC OS Six. |

RISC OS Six and the Select 4 installer have a
number of features built-in to help with diagnosing problems.
Please remember that because an application ran under RISC OS 4, it
does not unfortunately mean that it will run under RISC OS Six
because of the improvements that have been made to prevent invalid
memory accesses and other invalid operations that previous versions of
RISC OS incorrectly allowed.
Before reporting an error please check the following:-
1. That when you upgraded that you performed a delete power-on to reset
the CMOS settings prior to starting the installation.
The reason for this is that if you run with any modules unplugged in
previous versions of RISC OS then the wrong module will then be
unplugged when RISC OS Six is in use. Press F12 and type *unplug to see
if any modules are unplugged before reporting an error. For example if
your CD drive doesn't appear to work on RISC OS Six, check that none of
the CDFS modules are unplugged. To restore a module press F12 and type
RMREINIT (modulename) e.g RMREINIT CDFS.
2. To check on what errors have occurred during startup you can use the
command *DMESG from the command line.
